Dana Buhl Thank you for visiting Dana's website. Dana has practiced massage therapy and CranioSacral therapy since 2001. She is a Certified Instructor of Infant Massage (CIIM) and a certified yoga instructor. She offers prenatal massage and teaches infant massage as well as couples massage by appointment. Her practice is housed in a beautiful and calming studio in inner South East Portland, Oregon.

Massage Therapy

Dana blends her training in Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, yoga therapeutics and CranioSacral Therapy to provide integrated and responsive bodywork. She enjoys working with clients of all ages and with a variety of physical needs. Some of the special areas in which she works are providing prenatal massage, working with people with chronic conditions (fibromyalgia, MS, arthritis) and working with acute musculoskeletal issues, such as TMJ syndrome, frozen shoulder and muscle strains. She also works with clients who are recovering from car accidents and can bill insurance for PIP claims.

Dana completed her massage training at East-West College for the Healing Arts in 2001. She is a Licensed Massage Therapist in Oregon (#7845) and Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (#305463-00).

CranioSacral Therapy

The CranioSacral system includes the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround, nourish and protect the brain and spinal cord. Imbalances in this vital system can cause sensory, motor, or neurological limitations and can reflect challenges at the levels of the body, psyche and spirit. Dana uses gentle touch to feel and amplify the client's inherent rhythms and help the fluids and tissues to release restrictions.

CranoSacral Therapy

When does it make sense to get CranioSacral Therapy? Some of the more common imbalances this work can address are migraine or tension headaches, jaw tension and disfunction, sleep disturbances, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, sinusitis, low back pain. CranioSacral therapy can be particularly healing for people challenged with severe illnesses, such as cancer, and chronic ailments such as fibromyalgia. Dana's role is to help the client be more fully involved in and aware of his/her own health and healing. From this perspective, CranioSacral work is an excellent modality at any time.

Dana's CranioSacral Therapy studies began in 2001 at East-West College of the Healing Arts in Portland. She furthered her studies with two courses through the Upledger Institute and later completed a 2-year advanced studies program with Ursula Popp. She assisted Ursula in introductory and advanced workshops.

Prenatal Massage

Pregnancy is a precious time in a woman's life. It is filled with expectation, incredible potential and awesome changes in one's body and psyche. Sometimes those changes are delightful, and sometimes they are downright uncomfortable. Prenatal massage is special way to nurture expectant mothers as well as provide some comfort and potential relief to sore and adjusting bodies. Dana was very grateful for the massage she received during her pregnancy and very much enjoys sharing the gift of touch with pregnant women.

Infant Massage Classes

Infant massage is a terrific way for new parents to deepen their relationship with their new baby, offer loving and healing touch, and aid in her/his growth and development. Experience has shown that massage helps infants with digestion and clinical research has shown that regular massage helps babies sleep better. The intentional time that parents devote to giving massage is a special opportunity to learn more about what and how their baby communicates and establishes the foundation for a lifelong relationship of trust and sharing.

Infant Massage Instruction

When pregnant with her first child, Dana became a Certified Instructor of Infant Massage through the Foundation for Healthy Family Living. The training was both profound and practical, as she learned not only the skills to teach infant massage but also how to apply the principles of touch communication with her own, sweet baby.

Dana's three-class series includes massage techniques for the whole body, gentle movements to help motor development, a sequence for gas & colic, and massage for the growing child. Classes are taught to parents/caregivers of babies from one month old to crawling and are scheduled throughout the year. Private lessons for families can also be scheduled. Please contact Dana if you are interested in joining a class or scheduling a private lesson.

Couples Massage

Dana teaches couples massage lessons in two sessions. Each partner gets one session devoted just to him/her; the other partner and Dana work in tandem to provide a basic full-body routine with focus on techniques for specific areas that need attention. It's a lovely way to get hands-on instruction, deepen your touch relationship and learn a valuable tool for mutual care. Classes are by appointment.
